The Wales Way
The Wales Way is a national route made up of three journeys – The Cambrian Way, The Coastal Way and The North Wales Way – that lead you along the coast, across castle country, and through our mountainous heartland.
The Cambrian Way crosses the spine of Wales for 185 miles (300km) between Llandudno and Cardiff, through National Parks and the Cambrian Mountains. The Coastal Way travels the west coast around Cardigan Bay, a 180-mile (290km) road-trip between the sea and mountains. The North Wales Way leads 75 miles (120km) past mighty castles into the island of Anglesey. We’ve also suggested loops and detours so that you can go 'igam ogam' and create your own Wales Way road-trip.
Discover the North Wales Way
The North Wales Way follows the old trading route along our northern coast into Anglesey. Quite apart from the resort towns and whopping castles that line the 75-mile (120km) trail, it’s the jumping-off point for journeys of discovery into the northern hinterlands. From here you can explore the Vales of Clwyd and Conwy, the mountains of Snowdonia, the Menai Strait, and our largest island, Anglesey.
Route maps have been produced that highlight local loops and trails off The North Wales Way as a starting point for exploring the region’s beautiful landscape, stunning scenery and rich heritage - with plenty of places to eat, stay and enjoy along the way. Explore the Coastal Way
The Coastal Way runs in an unbroken sweep along Cardigan Bay through the counties of Gwynedd, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. It’s a stunning seaside road trip with serious star power. Stretching from Aberdaron on the tip of the wild Llŷn Peninsula in the north to the miniature city of St Davids in the south, it’s an epic coastal journey through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, two National Parks and protected Heritage Coast. Along the way you’ll encounter an unmistakably Welsh landscape of sandy beaches, pretty harbour villages, sublime estuaries, hidden coves and mighty castles. There’s so much to see along the Coastal Way it’s difficult knowing where to start. To point you in the right direction we’ve created a series of themed itineraries showcasing the best The Coastal Way has to offer including the Castles Culture and Heritage route, Coast Stories and much more.
