Harlech Beach

Overlooking Harlech’s huge, peaceful beach is a symbol of past conflict – mighty Harlech Castle, a World Heritage Site. There’s good access to the beach from a 440 yard/400m path from the car park close to the railway line crossing. And it’s not just flat sand – the beautiful sand dunes here are a prized feature, the reason behind the area’s designation as a National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest. The beach is an ideal place for children to play and an even better spot for adults to sit back and relax. There are dog restriction areas on the beach. Near the beach there’s a shop, café and the internationally famous Royal St David’s Golf Club, one of Britain’s finest links courses. The beach can be found easily, thanks to many clear signs.

Be aware of the following dangers on Harlech beach. 

• Beware of strong currents
• Beware of large breaking waves
• Beware of powered craft
• Do not dig or burrow in the sand dunes
• Do not use inflatables during offshore winds
• Dogs are restricted from a section of this beach (from 1st April - 30th September)
• Keep children under supervision
